Senior moving

Senior moving in McKinney, TX.

A slower, more careful move for downsizing, assisted living, or getting closer to family.

Moving at your pace

A careful day, not a fast one.

A senior move is not a race. One crew lead walks the home with you before anything is touched, asks what matters most, and sets the pace for the day. Every box is labeled by room. Furniture goes where you want it, not where it is easiest to set down. Before we leave, the bed is made, the lamps are plugged in and the TV is working.

Sort it together. We take it from there.

Going from a four-bedroom house to a one-bedroom apartment means decisions about forty years of things. We do that sorting with you and the family, room by room: keep, give to family, donate, let go. Our packers box the keepers. Our junk removal crew takes the donations and the haul-away, priced by the load. Anything nobody is ready to decide on goes into storage until they are.

Working with communities

We know how move-in day works.

Independent living, assisted living and memory care communities each have their own rules for moving residents in. We coordinate the elevator reservation, the move-in window and where the truck can park with the community's move-in coordinator before the day. We have moved people into communities across McKinney, Frisco, Plano and Allen, so the paperwork and the loading dock are familiar ground. The apartment is set up the same day, with the bed made and the familiar things in place, so the first night feels like home.

Coordinating from out of town

One person to call. Updates as it happens.

Many of these moves are arranged by a son or daughter who lives in another city. You get one Zip Zap team member as your point of contact from the first call through the last box. We text you when the crew arrives, when the truck is loaded and when the setup is finished, with photos of the new place before we leave. The estimate goes to whoever is paying, and nothing moves forward until they approve it.

What it costs

What a senior move costs

Senior moves are priced the same way as every local move: 2 movers and a truck for $179 an hour, plus one flat $129 trip charge. 2-hour minimum. You only pay for the hours the crew works.

Crew sizeHourly rate
2 movers + truck$179/hr
3 movers + truck$209/hr
4 movers + truck$249/hr
5 movers + truck$289/hr
Trip charge (truck, fuel, equipment)$129 once
Pads, stretch wrap, floor protection and furniture disassembly are included. Nothing is due until the job is done.

A senior move usually takes a bit longer than a standard move of the same size, because we go slower, pack more carefully and set up the new place before we leave. The honest way to know the number is a free in-home walkthrough. Matt, the owner, comes out in person, never by video, looks at what is going and what is staying, and gives you an exact figure the family can approve before anything is booked.

How it works

Three steps. Nothing rushed.

01

Walk the home with us

Matt comes to the house in person, meets whoever is involved, and sees what is going, what is staying and what needs a decision. You get an exact number for the family to approve.

02

Pick the date and the plan

We line the move date up with the community's move-in window, book the elevator, and schedule packing, storage or a cleanout around it if you need them. No deposit.

03

We move and set up

The crew lead walks the home, the crew wraps and loads at a steady pace, and the new place is set up the same day. You pay when the job is done.

Senior moving FAQs

Two to three weeks is comfortable. It leaves time for the in-home walkthrough, for the family to approve the estimate, and for the community to confirm a move-in window. If your date is closer than that, call us anyway. Our schedule changes week to week and we will tell you honestly what is open.
Either. Our packers can box the whole home, or just the kitchen, closets and breakables while the family handles the rest. Boxes and materials are itemized in your packing quote, and every box is labeled by room so it lands in the right place at the new home.
We sort it with you into keep, give away and let go. Pieces going to family can ride on the truck as a second stop. Donations and anything headed for the dump go out with our junk removal crew, priced by the load. Anything the family is not ready to decide on can go into storage until they are.
Yes. We move residents into independent living, assisted living and memory care communities across McKinney, Frisco, Plano, Allen and the rest of Collin County. We arrange the elevator, move-in window and parking with the community ahead of time, and we set the apartment up the same day so the first night feels like home.
Yes, and it helps. Having a son, daughter or close friend on site makes the small decisions easier. If nobody can be there, one Zip Zap team member is your single point of contact for the day, with text updates as the move progresses and photos of the finished setup before we leave.
Every piece of furniture is wrapped in moving pads and stretch wrap before it leaves the room. China, glass and framed pieces are packed in their own boxes with paper. Point out the pieces that matter most during the walkthrough and the crew lead will load them where they cannot shift. If something is too valuable to put on a truck, we will say so and help you plan for it.
Two hours of crew time plus the $129 trip charge. Most senior moves run longer than that because we go slower, pack carefully and set up the new place, but you are never billed for hours the crew does not work. Nothing is due until the job is done.
Yes. Once the keepers are out and the family has taken what they want, our junk removal crew can clear the rest of the house, garage and attic so it is ready to list or hand back. It is priced by the load, and we can schedule it the same week as the move.
